Our wine maker, Frantz Ventre,  will guide you through a tasting and comparison of six of our wines including our Reserve Red, winner of a gold medal at the Virginia Governor’s Cup.

You will compare tasting notes between vintages of a varietal, dive deeper into your tasting notes, learn about our vineyard and wine-making process, and enjoy paired snacks from our kitchen.

Frantz Ventre has more than 30 years of progressive experience in winemaking and
vineyard management. He started his career in his home town of Bordeaux, France at the age of 16 and soon moved to Charlottesville where he began as an intern and then operations manager at Jefferson Vineyard.

Frantz brings a unique perspective to Mount Ida’s wine program by combining traditional and old world experience with his interest in experimentation.
