Burrito Riders League came together in the spring of 2015, after Richmond (VA)-area musician Slim Stanton loudly opined on Facebook, something to the effect of: "Before I die I need to play in a 1970s country-rock cover band." Immediately, singer-songwriter Paulo Franco took up the challenge. Slim had played on a CD of Paulo's and occasionally sat in with Paulo's backing band, The Rateros.

The two originally planned to add a lead guitar and rhythm section, but the first order of business was to get that third voice for harmonies, and one of the best singers around was Andy Vaughan. Andy fronts his own classic country band, Andy Vaughan and The Driveline (in which, to continue the incestuous theme, Slim plays steel). Originally, Andy was to play bass and Paulo would switch to lead, but after the first rehearsal it jelled so well as a trio that the idea of a rhythm section was dropped.

The first performance was in June of 2015, and since then the three have many shows under their belts, and a growing following of country-rock fans.

We'll continue to fire up the grills and host live music on the patio every Thursday, through August 30, from 6 to 9 pm.

Bring your own food to grill, or purchase meats from our tasting room farm stand, and enjoy a fun, laid back night at the vineyard. With free admission and live music on the patio, it's the perfect way to start your almost-weekend. Don't forget to pack lawn games and picnic blankets. Children and leashed dogs are welcome!

Meat from Free Union Grass Farm can be purchased and thawed by calling ahead. General thaw times are 20 to 40 minutes. For larger cuts and whole chickens, calling a day in advance is suggested.
