Taste of Monticello - Behind the Bubbles: How a Sparkling Wine is Made at Trump Winery

Join winemaker Jonathan Wheeler on a tour through Trump Winery’s sparkling wine production facility.

The delicate, multistep process of crafting a sparkling wine will be taking place right in front of your eyes as you learn about the second fermentation process that takes a still wine to a sparkling. A sampling of finished sparkling wines will follow the tour and highlight the differences that growing conditions and winemaking choices can have on a finished product.

Wheeler has been with the estate since 2006 and leads the wine program. He draws on experience gained from working as a winemaker in Sonoma and Monterey California, Marlborough New Zealand, and his home in the Finger Lakes of New York. His wines have gained national and international recognition, including a recent Double Gold in the San Francisco International Wine Competition for the 2009 Brut Reserve.

*For all winemaker tours, we recommend wearing footwear and clothing that is appropriate for walking through a vineyard and around a working production winery.

Tickets are available as part of the 3-day Taste of Monticello Wine Trail Festival Pass - For passes and more information visit: http://sprintpavilionpromo.shop.ticketstoday.com/
