Eastwood Farm & Winery

Eastwood Farm and Winery is a women-owned, family-operated farm winery in Charlottesville. Situated along the Carters Mountain ridge and recognized as a Monticello Wine Trail winery, Eastwood brings wine country to your backyard while making award-winning wines and ciders that reflect the terroir and the long history of grape growing and winemaking in Virginia.

Eastwood has two tasting rooms. When you arrive on the property, the first thing you will see is the indoor tasting room, located inside a fully renovated horse barn including a large copper bar, flanked by a spacious open air veranda.  If you head up the hill behind the barn, you will arrive at the outdoor tasting room, located under a sailcloth tent overlooking a large, terraced lawn. Grab an Adirondack chair or picnic table and enjoy the view of the mountains.  You can also hike alongside our wild flower meadow up to a breathtaking overlook.

Eastwood Farm and Winery is the realization of a dream for the Eastwood family, which includes four generations of Eastwood women!  Although originally drawn to the area to attend the University of Virginia’s law school, for many years, the family imagined creating a farm in Charlottesville where they could nurture their passion for agriculture, winemaking, cooking and art, and where family and friends could enjoy a glass of wine and a great conversation while taking in the beautiful Virginia countryside.  We love nothing more than watching the grandchildren chase butterflies, bringing in the harvest with family, and sitting around an evening bonfire telling stories or just watching the lightning bugs. As it is for our family, we hope the farm will be a place for you to enjoy the simple pleasures all around us.

Virginia Viticulture:
Eastwood is committed to furthering the development of sustainable viticulture and winemaking in Virginia.  American wine is world-renowned.  As some of the country’s largest wine-growing regions are being significantly impacted by historic wildfires and drought, we need to work together to protect the future of viticulture and winemaking in America.

While Virginia has a rich viticultural history and is a rapidly-growing wine destination receiving international acclaim for its wines, we need more vines.  There are only 4,000 acres of vines currently planted in Virginia compared to more than one million on the West Coast.  With our partners, Eastwood is committed to establishing more vines in Virginia today.

What is the significance of the Blue Boar?
The blue boar first appeared in a painting by D. Alan Eastwood, which he presented to his daughter, our co-founder and matriarch, for her 10th birthday.  The blue boar is the perfect Eastwood mascot - a magical creature and forest guardian. A surprisingly peaceable animal, the blue boar symbolizes courage, honesty and fixity of purpose.  According to legend, the blue boar is known for evading death and sharing his cloak of protection with loved ones, dreamers, and mythical kings embarking on enchanted quests.

Eastwood’s co-founders saw this business as their moon shot - a chance to build the life they had always wanted - one focused on family and community.  When they say “follow the blue boar,” they mean that they hope you will take your bold leap or moon shot idea and decide to live the life you always wanted!
